However, if you strain your eyes to read it there is examples of how to execute applications with a key binding.

Re: Share your Openbox Desktop ! :)

Thanks guys.

Owe strite, I messed up in the conkyrc. You want to change...

line #8
own_window yes

to...

own_window no

And remove line #9

I uploaded the changed file and changed the link.
This way you can right click on it to get the menus to pop up.

-----------------

Ya man Openbox is the way to go. It dose take a little time to get it setup the way you want but it is super nice after you do. Then you can just save your config files ~/.config/openbox and you'll never have to mess with it again.

I use
feh for the background
and
tryer for the system tray

There is no need what so ever for a "Bar" because your menu is displayed with a Right Click on the desktop and the Middle Click shows a list of all the desktops and applications running on them, so it acts like the Task Bar & Desktop Pager all in one.

Go through the Arch WiKi for OpenBox and stuff. You'll want the obmenu and obconf utils as well as some other ones the WiKi talks about.

Owe and with OpenBox you need to setup the ~/.Xdefaults and /home/root/.Xdefaults file
http://rapidshare.com/files/407415569/.Xdefaults.html

There'll be no panel and no background, so you'll literally see nothing.

Re: Share your Openbox Desktop ! :)

Imagine a grey screen.

There is no panel, no wallpaper, nothing. if you right click you get a default menu with a bunch of programs you don't even have installed probably, if you open a window it will have some decorations. When you scroll on the desktop it will show a little display to let you know on which desktop you are.

Re: Share your Openbox Desktop ! :)

Ya, I'd start by using menumaker then obmenu to fine tune it. Then make sure to setup the .Xdefualts (I just added a section in the openbox wiki for that) and the rest is up to your imagination. Work through the WiKi... owe, and I'd suggest PCmanFM file-manager, and for mounting removable volumes; it has a wiki too.
