SAA7146 on DVB-S2-Tuner

Hi there,

I've an Philips SAA7146-Based TV-Tuner (DVB-S2).

lspci
...
00:0d.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 01)
...

The card is labeled as "KNC ONE TV-Station DVB-S2".

Long time, this thing has served under Ubuntu 8.04, but unfortunately, not out of the box. I needed to get v4l_dvb and needed to compile that thing. Yesterday I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10, and as expected, the support broke again.
After having trouble with such conservative software, I decided to install ArchLinux, and I was surprised that /dev/dvb/adapter0 was even listed on the live-cd.
After installing it and copying the channels.conf from the backup, the unexpected happened.

xine-gui (which was used before under ubuntu) just shows a black screen and doesn't react anymore. (Freeze)
vlc states that it is unable to open dvb://-Links
kaffeine seems to be wonderful - but I'm unable to do a channel-search, because there's no dvb-device listed
and scan from the dvb-utils really seems to try to do something, but it doesn't return any result.

dmesg:

saa7146: register extension 'budget_av'.
saa7146: found saa7146 @ mem e1c70000 (revision 1, irq 18) (0x1894,0x0019).
saa7146 (0): dma buffer size 192512
saa7146 (0) saa7146_i2c_writeout [irq]: timed out waiting for end of xfer

Re: SAA7146 on DVB-S2-Tuner

I will be simple and direct. I do not speak English. But I can understand something. This text is translated by Google. I speak Portuguese or French. Using SuSE kernel 2.6.34-12-desktop. I have a dvb card, Tecnhotrend s-3200 based TV tuner Philips SAA7146 (DVB-S2). Do not you also know it happens, or if you noticed it does not scan the Symbolrate <5000

scanning Teste
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
ERROR: invalid enum value '9'

I informed the vger.kernel this error was corrected but not yet
The problem seems to be the frontend. By default loads the frontend stb0899. Can I download another? How is it done? Thanks for any clarification.

Re: SAA7146 on DVB-S2-Tuner

In my case, it was already enough to get v4l_dvb from the AUR (building as defined in the pkgbuild), after then, it run well in kaffeine, even in high definition.

It would be very nice if this package would be included into the main tree.
