DVD - discs wont get recognised

Hello there

I hope im in the right sub-forum for this:

I have a strange problem with my DVD Drive. It does only recognize DVDs or CD-ROMs that have been in the drive during boot. But when i eject and then insert the disc again it wont be recognized anymore (mount says: no medium found).

I guess its a hardware problem, because when i insert the disc at the grub screen (therefore before starting the kernel) its not being recognized either..

So has anyone ever had a similar problem with this? Or any other advice?
