Re: kernel26 archive? I need 2.6.30-ARCH specifically.

Unless sb has that particular version, I think you need to compile it from the PKGBUILD.

Or compile it manually and append "-ARCH" to the end of the release name when configuring the kernel.

http://omploader.org/vNHljYw
tar.bz2 archieve with kernel 2.6.30.6 PKGBUILDs taken from abs without a change. Including kernel26, kernel26-firmware, kernel-headers

You should - theoretically - be able to roll back the PKGBUILDs in the online CVS view to the 2.6.30 version.

Thanks for the help guys. I will report back when I have done this.

EDIT: Taking ages of course with the Atom CPU and slow HDD on the 1101HA...

Trying to make the PSB drivers work properly, at least the kernel improved my progress. Thanks all.

Yeah, atom CPUs are killer for low power/heat consumption but doing anything mathematical is like hauling 2 tons of horse shit with a little red wagon.

How long does it take to compile a kernel on your box?

@ Coacher
You can cross-compile, but if you have only that netbook ... see ya next week.

Look into ccache also, in case you do something wrong and have to recompile.

I though part of the reason for moving our -lts kernel to 2.6.32 was it supported something...   newer udev that we use maybe?  I cna not remember....   But just a warning that you may run into other issues.

Re: kernel26 archive? I need 2.6.30-ARCH specifically.

That's why I would like to keep packages in e.g. ARM for longer - you can simply 'pacman -Suu' to a certain date and all is well.

For Poulsbo? I suggest using uvesafb. Rolling back everything for a broken driver is going to cause more headaches than it's worth.

Thanks karol. The thought of running Gentoo on a netbook will forever scar me.

I actually had gentoo on my first aspire one (the on with the sloow ssd).
Took me around 2 days to get a basic system compiled, then I ran out of inodes and had to start all over big_smile

A major reason is 2.6.27 is being phased out, I assume tongue.
