[Solved] Error while installing Grub during Arch installation

Hi, i tried installing Arch on my new Dell XPS 7100 but during the grub install i get these errors

grub> device (hd0) /dev/sda
grub> root (hd0,4)
Error 18: Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS
grub> setup (hd0)
Error 12: invalid device requested
grub> quit

However Ubuntu installed well on that PC

any suggestions?

[Solved]
I was able to solve this issue by creating the boot partition as sda0(the first partition on disk), but still i don´t know why tongue

Re: [Solved] Error while installing Grub during Arch installation

"root (hdo,4)" should be "root (hd0,4)" (ie you typed an "o" rather than a "0").

Re: [Solved] Error while installing Grub during Arch installation

thats just an typo over here i didn´t typed anything during that installation its the automated grub install where these errors happen but thx for pointing this out tongue

edit: just found out that fdisk -l says

Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary

Partition 1 is the windows 7 system partition

i guess i just reinstall windows on that machine and try it again by manualy partition the disk before
