initramfs compression

Hello,

I'd like to know whether compressing the initramfs image, in one of the three formats available, will either cause a degradation or improvement in boot-time.

Thanks for the link.

I've discovered that the initramfs image on my system is compressed with the kernel. Instructing mkinitcpio to compress it will degrade boot performance.
