Installation, Driver and XFCE

Hey,

I read the installation Guide, but i still have a few quenstions about it.

For example i dont know wich drivers i need to install manuelly.
PC:
Gigabyte P55A UD3 (
i5 750 @3GHz OC
4gb Ram @1600MHz
HD5850 1gb
I have also and WLAN USBStick(WUSB54GC) for internet. Im connected with an Secure WLAN Router.

I had installed Archlinux on VMWare without problems, but i want it on my PC regularly.
After i update the system and configure the audio system alsa, i dont know if i should install fam becouse the beginner guid says that i schould use gamin for xfce?
If installed gamin, schoul i add it to the deamons  in /etc/rc.d/ like so DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network crond hal gamin alsa)?
Does i need mesa for Xfce? What is mesa??
After i had installed xsever i have the choice of two diffrent ati drivers, the first is made by the linux community and the secound by amd themself, right?
So if i choose the official driver from amd, does i need any other package except this one "#pacman -S catalyst"?
Does i need ntp??
Why do i need dbus, and what is it needed for?
How can i connected to my router via wlanstick, wich installed package does i need for this stick??

Sry for bad english skill sad

I hope you can help me,
LG

Re: Installation, Driver and XFCE

"bhla bhla drivers bhla bhla"
You'll need to instsall catalyst. Use the catalyst repo as described here.

"If installed gamin, schoul i add it to the deamons "
Gamin should not be put into the daemons array.

"Does i need mesa for Xfce?"
Let pacman take care of the deps for you,

"Why do i need dbus, and what is it needed for?"
Communication between applications. See wikipedia for details.

"How can i connected to my router via wlanstick, wich installed package does i need for this stick??"
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless_Setup

"After i had installed xsever..."
don't just install xorg-server, install the whole xorg group.

"Does i need ntp??"
Probably not, but it's nice to have, since it will help you keep your clock accurate.

"So if i choose the official driver from amd, does i need any other package except this one "#pacman -S catalyst"?"
pacman will take care of the deps for you. Also, use -Syu foobar  instead of -S foobar.

Re: Installation, Driver and XFCE

No need. Xorg will load it as needed. Just make sure your xorg, conf is correct, and that you have disabled kms.
