Cannot use Ensoniq ES1371

I recently got a computer faster than my old one and now I need to get the Ensoniq ES1371 sound card that came with it working. Anyone know how I can install and get it working properly?

A little more detailed information on what exactly doesn't work and what you've tried so far would be nice...
Helping you will be much easier then.

Well you see, that's the funny part cause I just got this computer and am not as skilled as other linux users are.

This is all i know:

[dbdii407@aura ~]$ alsamixer

02:0a.0 Multimedia audio controller: Ensoniq ES1371 [AudioPCI-97] (rev 06)

I've also touched modprobe and alsaconf, they didn't help.
Please tell me if you need any other info. I'd like to get this working. smile

Re: Cannot use Ensoniq ES1371

The correct driver should be "snd-ens1371", so just try a "modprobe snd-ens1371" from console and run alsamixer again. You should probably have a look at the Wiki article about the sound system as well: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Adv … chitecture

I've already tried that:

[dbdii407@aura ~]$ sudo modprobe snd-ens1371
Password:
FATAL: Module snd_ens1371 not found.

Re: Cannot use Ensoniq ES1371

Strange. Is the driver module present in /lib/modules/<kernel-version>/kernel/sound/pci ? If it is, please look at /var/log/messages.log after trying to load the driver if there are any suspicious lines about the driver or the sound card.
