hi, just thinking if an online file folder for arch users could be in place sometime, I mean like ubuntu one, you install a package via pacman, and have a little storage space online syncing with your desktop, its a pretty neat app and very useful, actually is still the only reason for me still running ubuntu.
Also, the service could be charged for increased storage space and that way developers could get something back to cover costs and time developing, and also to improve the arch distro (ie. faster servers, not that im saying current ones are slow).
Im thinking something in between 200mb-2Gb space for each user would be awesome, with the possibility of adding more space if you want (that one paid )
Anyways, just an idea to see what you guys think
cheers

I tought dropbox was windows only just found another one called spideroak, have you used any of these?
And according to this website: http://www.onlinebackupdeals.com/spider … s-dropbox/ spideroak is far superior for half the price if you ever want more storage

I would have to say +1 for Dropbox also.
For what I need it works just fine and has enough space for my files. I don't use it for backups though. Mainly it's used for transfering files I'm working on between Desktop and Laptop, and a select few other people have access to some of those files.

Same here and it's handy when testing LiveUSBs, etc...right now I'm using dropbox to store my screenshots of Jolicloud's new 1.0 interface.

Isnt that app for ubuntu exclusively? I can download and upload files to ubuntu one from arch but no file syncing of course.
I also found out that dropbox is being pretty well mantained in the AUR, while spideroak is out of date.
And what is Jolicloud's?

I doubt any Ubuntu made app is exclusive to Ubuntu. GPL is Linux' friend.

As always, please don't ask Linux general questions in this sub-forum. Moving....
