Compiz having repaint issues

I just installed Arch Linux for the first time and am rather liking the change from Ubuntu.

One major downside, however, is that compiz is rather buggy for me.

Compiz has a lot of trouble keeping up on repaints, so when I'm typing it will consistently be a character behind (and that character will not show up until I do something else with the window... either type more or move the window)

Also, scrolling in any window is terrible, as blocks of the previously visible content will stick around, obscuring the new content.  On the compiz config settings manager, switching tabs never repaints properly until I move the window.

How do I fix this?

Re: Compiz having repaint issues

For anyone else who has this problem:

I randomly tried Indirect Rendering (via the fusion-icon) and everything seems to be fine.  Not sure what indirect rendering does, but it fixed my issue. smile

Re: Compiz having repaint issues

Indirect Rendering renders indirect via X.Org and not directly over the Graphic Card

So Compiz says to X.Org "Hey X.Org, do that stuff for me" instead of doing it self using the Graphic Card/Driver/Whatever

that maybe slows down some things but since 1.8 this is the only way to use Compiz
