K3b CD burning (Error decoding audio / unlocking CD drive)

Mornin,

Used to alwaysbe able to make CDs with k3b, no problem. Now though, all my permissions seem to be messed(even though theyre all set properly). I can't burna CD as a user or as root, let alone use k3b to automaticaly convert the mp3s to cdda files.

When I try to burn, I get:

Error Decoding Audio

and

Could Not Unlock CD Drive

This is the k3b error log:

If I run as root I get errors about audio decoding, andthen as far as I've tested k3b hangs on the 'Unlocking CD' part but doesn't give the error.

XCDRoast gives a load of twaddle about no scsi devices or something and warnings about using an ATAPI device with 'absolutely no dma'. I DEFINITELY have dma enabled, and I thought you didn't need scsi emulation with kernel 2.6+?

I've spent HOURS on this, and it's pissing me off, so if anyone has any good ideas, let me know big_smile

Oh, I also tried using scripts to convert the mp3s - I don't mind doing that if I have to (inthat case I may need some help writing a script to resample the WAVs to 44100 instead of 48000hz)  and scripts to burn CD - no luck.

Anyone have any ideas? I've tried with and without burning group, and tried manually setting permissions on /dev/hdd.

The most annoying thing is that it used to work no problem. Any help much appreciated.
