I'm using Gnome Screen Saver and I'm wondering if it's possible to display a window above it?
Basically I want to be able to use my Yubikey to unlock the computer but I don't to use the pam module because it does not provide a fall back when you are not connected to the internet. My idea is to have udev run an application when a Yubikey is inserted. The app will check Network Manager to see if the computer is connected to the internet. If it is, it will display an input window that can accept the Yubikey's OTP. If it passes the computer is unlocked. If there is no network connection then it won't do anything with the Yubikey and force the user to put in their password the normal way.
Does anyone have any ideas?
