I had to reformat because my install was surprisingly freaking out on me. I'll blame that on poor installation practices on my part.
Now it's fine, and I've 'changed my ways.' ![]()
I reformat my windows installations every 2 years or so, or until something terribly breaks (like last year, my vista installation's DEP decided that windows was modifying windows and prevented windows from running; so it would lock up...)

This is from my MythTV Frontend in the living room. I upgraded the motherboard / CPU & some other stuff last year on this PC using the same hard drive and it just fired right up. No need for a reinstall....

I've added ram, removed ram, move partitions around, resized partitions, screwed up the kernel, screwed up pacman, deleted the mirrorlist, deleted key configuration files and have never had to reinstall.
Personally, I'd rather be back in Hobbiton.
