ArchCon 2010 Videos

I was able to attend day one of ArchCon 2010 but was summoned home later in the evening preventing me from attending day two. Spur of the moment I decided to see what my new(ish) HTC Incredible could do as far as video recording. Here is the list disclaimers and caveats:

* It's a phone that did the recording.
* I am not a videographer and as you will see, I will never have the talent necessary to be one.
* Being that it is a phone, I had to prop it up using a Coke can.
* Sometimes I forgot to start recording until a few minutes into a presentation.
* You will need to turn the volume up considerably.
* I accidentally recorded Dan's talk in half resolution.
* Something happened with the file for Dieter's talk on AIF. I nearly deleted it because VLC, SMPlayer, and MediaInfo all report there is no sound. I found that avidemux plays the file back with sound, but I have not been able to find a way to convert or transcode the file so it will play back with common media players.
* These are hosted on my personal account w/ DreamHost. They claim I have unlimited bandwidth, but we'll see. If anybobdy want to, or thinks it is worth it, to mirror / torrent these, feel free.
* I asked Dusty about posting these and he said it would be fine.
* I did the best I could under the circumstances and with my limited experience with the video recording functionality of the phone.

Thanks for posting these. If you have bandwidth problems you could always upload them to YouTube, or similar.

We did have someone recording all but one of the talks with a real camera, We'll be posting them later in the week, but I make no promises about audio quality or anything like that. There will also be photos going up. Keep an eye on http://archlinux.ca/archcon2010/

Also, keep refreshing http://archlinux.ca/archcon2011/ The site will be going up sooner or later. ;-)

For the record, Dieter's talk on AIF seems to have audio on mplayer.

Good grief, my powers of observation must be in the tank. I thought that there was only still photography going on. I didn't know someone else was video recording as well. If the other recordings are significantly better than these, let me know and I can remove these links. I wouldn't want to waste anybody's time or bandwidth.
