arch linux 0.7 cd label

I was recently distributing arch cds to colleagues for a research project we are working on.  Since it was in a professional environment I thought it would be appropriate to have labels on the cd and not just my chicken scratch on a silver disc.  The labels can be found here if anyone is interested.

pdf:
www.equivalentsystems.net/linux/arch/ar … dlabel.pdf

png:

The pdf is great for printing as the current spacing works with at least two types of cd labels that I know of, though I put up the png in case anyone wants it.

Re: arch linux 0.7 cd label

the reason i ask: i use the arch-base cd that is less than 240mb and fits on a 8cm cd (the small cd). i want to put a sticker on it, so that it looks cool when i borrow it to my colleagues/friends (now it is simply written "arch 0.7 base" with a black pen). there is not much space to use much artwork but yours look really great and if a SVG existed, i would try to addapt it to fit.

great work!

Re: arch linux 0.7 cd label

I have the file in the original gimp xcf format and png.  I tried to google saving svg in gimp with little intial luck.  If you are able to drop some knowledge on me or point me to info then I would be happy to export it as an svg file and post it.

Re: arch linux 0.7 cd label

you did that in gimp? wow! cool! then you really know how to use this software - great!  i use sodipodi because it is easier ;-)

never mind - i will try to make something similar in glabels directly (xcf i never used) ... with your idea ...

i will post the result here ... thank you for the idea!

Re: arch linux 0.7 cd label

I'm also interested in converting raster to vector, so I dug this up:

http://autotrace.sourceforge.net/

Dunno how good it is, but it might be worth checking out.

autotrace is in extra (my pkg) ... i use it to get vectors from bitmaps for sodipodi and blender

Yes, I've installed inkscape but I haven't had a chance to play around with it yet.  Can it convert raster to vector as well?
