Thanks, now it works as good as previous!

OK, Emerald is nearly working (maximized windows has border, but without anything on it), gtk-window-decorator is also nearly working - it uses it's own decoration which is changing color while changing steering elements, not window borders. Sad sad

Re: PKGBUILDs: Compiz-0.9 (compiz++)

@sand_man

gtk-window-decorator-git &
exec compiz-git --replace ccp

But compiz can crash, so I would recommend you do something like

gtk-window-decorator-git &
compiz-git --replace ccp &
mkfifo "/tmp/$USER.$$.session"
sleep 2
read < "/tmp/$USER.$$.session"
rm -f "/tmp/$USER.$$.session"
exit

EDIT: Quiting would just be echo >"/tmp/$USER.$$.session"

Thanks. It's working well. Surprisingly better performance than 0.8 except that it's a little bit crash-happy big_smile

There's no gtk-window-decorator-09 on my system.... it does work using /opt/compiz-09/bin/gtk-window-decorator though. Perhaps you forgot to create the appropriate symlink? smile

EDIT: Hmmm scratch that, I looked back into the PKGBUILD and see that it does get created, no idea why it wasn't in the first place.... Perhaps I didn't have gtk-window-decorator installed at that point, or something.

It didn't check if it exists in $pkgdir, but the actual filesystem, should be fixed now.

Well I couldn't see it either at first. Not until I uninstalled the old version and recompiled the compiz-core++ package. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it but the reason why I did was that the compilation process seems to auto-detect what's installed in the system and compiles what is needed.
I had to uninstall kdelibs because kde-window-decorator would fail the build.

The compiz build system wasn't the problem (it doesn't create the binaries with -09 suffixes), the PKGBUILD was checking to see if they existed, and make symlinks.

I just forgot to put a $pkgdir in the check.

Where is the bug tracker for Compiz?

I'm experiences several, or so I think.

I can't scroll on the root window to switch viewports, even though viewport switcher is enabled.

And when I set a right-click action in the viewport switcher plugin and try using it, Compiz segfaults on me.

Hey some-guy, I don't know if you use [testing], but ccsm at least breaks because of the python rebuild.

I am aware of it, but I was waiting for the rebuild to leave [testing] before changing the PKGBUILD (looks like it just needs a simple sed line)

Its backward-compatible to change all calls to python to python2 (the python currently in [extra] also has a python2 binary/symlink, so everything will 'just work (tm)'.

Could you please update to 0.92? smile The ++ packages seem to be for a 0.90 branch. Also the python2 thing needs to be fixed in two of the packages...

I think the ++ packages build from the git, which is always the newest regardless of the current version. However, the 09 packages need an update (which is actually very easy to do manually) and the python issue too.

photon@photon-desktop:~$ /opt/compiz-git/bin/compiz --version
Compiz 0.9.0

some-guy: Thanks!

Rebuild the packages with e.g.

sudo yaourt -S --noconfirm ${pacman -Qqs compiz}

and you'll get Compiz 0.9.2.

Hmm, I've installed the ++ packages just some days ago (on 26.10, after the release of 0.9.2), why should a rebuild change the version?

I don't understand why the version number you see there number is so important, since GIT is updated in real time anyway. The commit that that changed the version number was submitted on the 29th of October 05:35:08 (GMT). Link: http://cgit.compiz.org/compiz/core/comm … e2fd8b9092 Therefore rebuilding will help.

Oh, I see. Well, it's my mistake, I confused the release announcement of 0.9.2 and the planned features of the upcoming 0.9.4 and since I the preview of minimized windows (which I thought would be implemented in 0.9.2) didn't work I checked the version and found it to be 0.9.0. smile

No problem. But did you get the previews working now? It has been implemented for quite a while in the GIT version already. You need to enable the feature in the "Workarounds" section, I believe it was.

Well, they do work but unminimizing windows via AWN doesn't work with this option activated. Also the minimized windows appear neither in any window switcher nor in Scale. I suppose, this option is to be considered quite experimental. smile

I don't use AWN, but it worked well with cairo-dock and also with application switcher (after the option to show minimized is ticked). It seems like the scale plugin doesn't have the feature to show minimized windows at all.
