I'm digging the AC kernel patchset pre-emptive kernel & low-latency both enabled...
it's the best of all those kernel patches I've tried so far (CK/RML mostly) for multimedia purposes -- one of my main needs: I dual-head my system & want to be able to watch a movie on my TV & browse about with firebird on my monitor without having the movie skip at all...
plus I like not having my X pause on spikes of cpu usage.
kernel + hdparm + running my TV as 1st display so nvidia driver will use video overlay mode with it and I'm pretty happy with it now... took some experimentation to get there tho.
So what does everybody else use kernel wise,?
or other performance/multimedia optimizations?
probably my next step will be to install a slimmer desktop/windowmanager -- right now I'm still using KDE, plan on experimenting when I get more time.

I peronally use Love-sources, but then again I roll them up so I guess I'm biased.
Basically it's andrew Mortons -mm tree with some changes like a new scheduler policy, nice and responsive..

the CK tree has alway been my kernel of choice
adding -minline-all-stringops might help your kernel/X/WM performance as well

I've been using 2.4.22 with latest Con Kolivas patches/fixes from 'kernel.kolivas.org'. Does anyone know if the latest AC patches are more up-to-date than the ck2 patches?

I plan on upgrading to 2.6-test7 when the -MM patchset comes out for it.
Can't go wrong with Mr.Morton.
