Will Arch not work on certain architectures?

Does i686 and x86_64 cover most machines?

Re: Will Arch not work on certain architectures?

As far as I know, most desktops/laptops/servers will use a CPU based on the x86 architecture (so this means all intel and amd computers cpu's.)
Apple computers should also be supported as they have started to use Intel cpu's.

some mobile phone processors are supported by Arch Mobile (http://www.archmobile.org/)

old apples (using PowerPC) are not supported by arch, although supported by Arch Linux PPC (http://www.archlinuxppc.org/)

As far as I know, Arch Linux does not support the following: SPARC, DEC Alpha, ARM, MIPS, HPPA, S390

Interesting!

So just to be clear, i686 is a "x86" type of architecture, right?

That's a nice way of killing your own topic. I suggest you look into your posting behaviour, if you have too much time: get a hobby.

Your original question is one only statisticians can answer. Your second post an all-time low.
