No sound after update

Hello,

After I updated my system I have no sound anymore...

if I start the alsa daemon this is the output:

When a start an application that uses my soundcard, like mocp I get this:

Was the kernel updated?  Try running alsaconf as root.

alsaconf says: No supported PnP or PCI cards found.

According to pacman.log there was no kernel update. I did remove gnome and kde entirely though and with it pulseaudio and phonon got removed.
Maybe alsa never worked, I installed pulseaudio, and got my sound back, I can even adjust the volume with alsamixer.
