Hi
Emesene does not work anymore for me, i used it yesterday evening just fine and this morning i turned on my PC and Emesene is stuck when its trying to connect to msn. I don't know of any package update that could have broken it but maybe M$ kicked us out or something ? The service itself is up it seems.
Does anybody else use Emesene for msn and has problems to login ?
edit: changed title to make it more conform with the problem.

I use Kopete and the same thing is happening to me. It worked last night but as of this morning I cannot connect. I'm starting to think that M$ is blocking non-MSN applications.

I just tried Pidgin and got the error that my buddy list is unavailable. I know it isn't an issue with MSN Messenger since that is what my wife uses and she is connected.

I wouldn't go that far. It's likely they simply changed something and now the open source clients need to be adapted. Wouldn't be the first time.

I'll try aMSN later and see if that one still works.
And yea we'll see if Emesene, Pidgin, Kopete push updates this weekend. M$ is totally capable of doing such things though but most likely its a minor change in MSN.
EDIT:
Its on Emesene forums as well, they mention something about changes in the hotmail protocol so we probably just need an updated package for our messengers: http://forum.emesene.org/index.php/topic,3631.0.html

Pidgin is working fine for me this morning, though last night i was typing messages and the party on the other end wasn't getting them (but I was getting theirs).
EDIT: Seconds after I made this post...mine crapped out. And I was in the middle of a conversation. Damn!

aMSN isn't working either.

I tested KMess, aMSN, Pidgin and Kopete... seems like a lot of Messengers have to update now

pidgin gave me problems in the morning, but now seems to be working fine

I'm connected using certerim - no conversations yet though as no MSN contacts are online. Unless of course centerim thinks I'm connected when I'm not.
I used to not receive a lot of messages from MSN contacts and that seemed to be an account (as opposed to client) issue.

I came across this problem today but now it seems fixed, I didn't upgrade pidgin though so I suppose it was a hotmail problem.

Pidgin gives me a "MSN Servers are temporary offline"

Libpurple clients don't work for me either. Centerim does work, however (thanks for the tip skanky).

Microsoft have some problems with the servers running the service. It could be that to. I've read about it today on a swedish site.

Kopete works here...
But it had a "burp" few hours back, so it could be some malfunction.

aMSN is now working for me.
(OT: I agree M$ is a bit of a daft phrase. Unless the person using it is not interacting with capitalism at all. In which case they won't have a computer and won't be connected to the internet.)

Emesene works again now with occasional disconnects. Guess this is solved.

I know this is marked as solved, but kmess isn't working for me still. aMSN does.

Don't bump, it would be better to make a new topic. Either way kmess is fixed in 2.0.x git (I had this problem myself)
