shift key not working

hi all,
   i am using the ubuntu 10.04  with kernel 2.6.32. 
my shift key os working in windows 7 but it is not active in ubuntu.
i think it's the keyboard driver  related problem .i have tried to reconfigure my kernel  but   the keyboard driver already moduled in right way.
and also my reconfigured kernel din't get installed.
if someone  can solve this problem .please...................

This is the Arch forum. There are better places - e.g. the Ubuntu forums, I know, it's a far stretch, but still wink - to get help with Ubuntu.
