I noticed that since the forum re-design the old RSS url does not work and I'm wondering what's the new one.
I've tried a number of different combinations and searches but cannot figure the new one out.
Does anyone know?
Thanks
R.

Pierre,
That's a good idea.
The old url was: http://bbs.archlinux.org/extern.php?act … e&type=RSS

Too sad its the same script but with slightly different parameters. I opened a bug report upstream: http://fluxbb.org/development/tickets/84/

Interesting...
But in the end is just a URL and your idea of a re-direct should work just fine.

But I think you need to manually add the new url to your feeds list.

No, its quite hard to do such a redirect from within apache...but its easy to be done in extern.php itself. That's why I moved this upstream.

I already did that.
Pierre's idea is in connection to other users that may have the RSS set up using the old URL and now they will not get any feeds... unless they find this thread

So, this was just fixed upstream and I applied the patch. Old RSS links should work again.

Something did change but it's not what I would call fixed: http://bbs.archlinux.org/extern.php?act … e&type=RSS
http://bbs.archlinux.org/extern.php?act … &type=atom works fine.

The first is in RSS the second in Atom format. What's your point here? Please give more details.

I click on the link and firefox should present me with a choice whether I want to subscribe via iGoogle or Google Reader. It works for the atom feed and worked for the RSS one some time ago when I subscribed.
Now I get the feed structure

and while the atom feed keep my Google Reader happy with new forum feeds, the old one flatlines - no new feeds.

Both feeds are valid. Check with http://validator.w3.org/feed/. There is no content type for the deprecated rss format so it is send as xml. And Firefox displays it just that way.

I'm not arguing they're not valid, just reporting that they work differently now: Google Reader doesn't like them for once.
I'll check with another feed reader and come back in a minute.
Edit: Newsbeuter doesn't object so neither do I.

OK, the RSS feeds woke up in my Google Reader, so everything seems fine.

I'd like to jump in here and mention I'm still having issues with this.
First, I use the Sage add-on and the RSS feed (for the forum) worked great until the update. After figuring out what the issue was (and finding this post) I updated to the ATOM feed for the forum. The ATOM feed displays "almost" correctly but it is showing all the markup tags in the summary. I tried the new RSS feed listed below by karol and it shows up but instead of showing a summary of the post it is showing whatever is in a code/quotebox and not a summary. The feeds for the other Arch pages (home page for example) still work fine.
I just wanted to report my findings as it sounded like you guys were wrapping this up as solved. It's not for me at least.
Edit:
Turns out the problem is with the Sage add-on so please disregard the above. The links work fine in everything else I've tried.

In solving a problem of this sort, the grand thing is to be able to reason backward. That is a very useful accomplishment, and a very easy one, but people do not practice it much. In the everyday affairs of life it is more useful to reason forward, and so the other comes to be neglected. There are fifty who can reason synthetically for one who can reason analytically. --Sherlock Holmes
