KDE and sharpfonts

Hi,

Any experience with sharpfonts (Windows fonts) and KDE?

http://www.sharpfonts.co.cc/
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16824

1280x800 LCD, Intel GM965, nothing personal in /etc/xorg.conf.d

Fonts in System Settings->Fonts set in a generic way, like Menu: Sans Serif 9

At the moment Antialiasing: Disabled, Force fonts DPI: 96 DPI; curiously, menus still look anything but sharp.

I don't know much about fonts and how KDE is supposed to manage them. Any suggestion is welcome smile .

Re: KDE and sharpfonts

you are supposed to use MS fonts with this thing.

Re: KDE and sharpfonts

I am. ttf-ms-fonts are there. I have to tell the system (KDE?) first that Sans Serif is something like Arial Sans, haven't I? I don't know how.

At the moment Antialiasing: Disabled

thats the reason

setup exactly like that and restart KDE than you have really really sharp fonts

Vollständig == Full

and why do you need Microsoft fonts for that? I never experienced a difference between FreeSans and Sans

How do I get the dialog? Use anti-aliasing dropbox which I refer to is just System Settings->Fonts tab which isn't the same.

Lack of experience, most probably big_smile . Where can I get FreeSans, BTW?

Re: KDE and sharpfonts

Just install this package first

ttf-dejavu

it contains Serif, Sans and other Fonts smile

and than go there

KDE-Systemsettings --> Appearence (or something like that, where you setup the design/look of KDE) --> Fonts

There you can setup everything smile

Re: KDE and sharpfonts

for me sharpfonts config was only applied to ms fonts. All other fonts looked the same as before.

Sure. To put my question in a less misleading way: How do I make Sans Serif choice to mean Arial, for instance?

Hmmm than you maybe did something wrong. But its hard to do everything right with fonts in KDE. Sometimes you just miss a cheap checkbox and babam no setups gonig to be applied

Yes. The question about the misterious dialog remains unanswered smile .
