Geeqie seach is slow

GQview is one of my favorite programs, and I just heard about Geeqie. So I installed it, and it looked like GQview. Which is okay, I didn't need any new features (maybe animated gif support), but if they aren't gonna update GQview anymore of course I should switch to this one.

Then I tried the search (I imported metadata from GQview).. I have a directory with about 20 000 files (15 subdirectories), and I used keyword to find some pictures. It took 4 minutes! With GQview i took only 5 seconds. What I'm doing wrong? I know I have probably changed lots of GQview settings after I installed it (I guess you can't import them..).
