I have been unable to print for a month. After a large update my Epson "prints" all pages blank.
I tried downgrading cups and libcups, udev, booting with an early kernel... and the problem didn't go away.
Does anyone have a tip on what could be breaking it?

First of all check all the CUPS logs in /var/log/cups and report back with anything that looks strange or like an error...
Philosophy is looking for a black cat in a dark room. Metaphysics is looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn't there. Religion is looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn't there and shouting "I found it!". Science is looking for a black cat in a dark room with a flashlight.

There's no error in cups logs. In fact, cups thinks it has been printed successfully.
It's just that it hasn't ![]()

Did you check whether you still have ink? Does it work in Windows, if you are dualbooting?

I'm not dualbooting, so I can't test in Windows.
I also considered that from the effects but mtink tells me that I have ink (10%), and the need-ink led isn't blinking. Moreover, the problem appeared after a large update which included cups. What drives me nuts is figuring out which piece is breaking it.
Is there a way to get into the different steps taken by cups? Eg. to check the file output by ghostscript.

Turns out it wasn't a software problem after all. After cleaning heads several times ( escputil -r /dev/usblp0 -c ) it works again.
Thanks for your help.
