[SOLVED]weechat not working anymore

hi, not sure whats happened but weechat has stopped working. ive use it for months with no problems before, now it won't even start. i haven't alterd any .conf files ( knowingly ). i use weechat-curses in urxvt, arch 64bit, openbox, all my packages are up to date. anyhoo, here's the error message i receive in console when typing 'weechat-curses' :

** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GtkWindow)
** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GtkInvisible)
** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GtkObject)
Undefined subroutine &main::buffers_signal_buffer called

erm, here's the output from core.weechat.log :

Re: [SOLVED]weechat not working anymore

I've installed weechat 0.3.2-1 and perl 5.12.1-2 on a 32-bit - and it works.

Re: [SOLVED]weechat not working anymore

well, after some talk with a weechat dev on their bug tracking site and the #weechat channel on freenode it appears the problem is caused by how the new perl package is interacting with a perl script for weechat called iset.pl. the dev there assures me there's no problem with the code of iset.pl and thinks the problem is with the new perl package. the dev also recommended that i report the bug here with the arch folks. i probably should have suggested this first but is there any chance you can install iset.pl karol to see if the problem replicates with you?

Re: [SOLVED]weechat not working anymore

weechat-git 20100803-1  (WeeChat 0.3.3-rc2 [compiled on Aug  3 2010 13:33:39])
perl 5.12.1-2

No problems.

yabasta, what version of weechat do you have installed? (pacman -Q weechat)

Re: [SOLVED]weechat not working anymore

I never really used IRC so I'm not sure this 'test' is worth anything.
I downloaded iset.pl script and put it in .weechat/perl.

I typed 'weechat-curses' and the weechat window opened.
I pasted '/set plugins.var.perl.iset.color_bg_selected color' into the 'command line' and

Option changed: plugins.var.perl.iset.color_bg_selected = "color"

appeared on the screen.

Re: [SOLVED]weechat not working anymore

hm, maybe someone forgot to move it.

pacman -U http://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/testing/os/x86_64/weechat-0.3.2-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

See if that works better.

Re: [SOLVED]weechat not working anymore

yes that works fine, thankyou mr elendig smile and now erm i feel like a right lemon at having posted bug reports with weechat and archlinux bug trackers haha....doh! well, my first ever bug report and it turned out to be a load of old tosh. there's a lesson learned about holding back on bug reports until things are clearer. so, if anyone has this problem, just upgrade to 0.3.2-2

A right ... lemon? Is it the cousin of the left hook? ;P
If you're worried about the 'family reunion', post to the bugtrackers again, saying that version 3.2.2 works.

Add a comment to the bugtracker saying that -2 from testing works.
