Hello,
Why are you all searching for traces of alien life ? ![]()
There is other projects you know... And I think they are (far) more interesting and concrete, like docking@home.
I know you must be on SETI since the beginnings of time, and I too, began with Seti@home with a 200 MHz proc, but now, distributed computing can actually help find a cure for diseases !!
anyway,
keep enjoying life folks ![]()
(I say this and I crunch for primegrid wich is not so concrete (I mean, what do you do when you find a prime number ? you search for another one.... doesn't quite really save lifes...))

Actually nothing saves lives - you just prolong the agony.
The only certainty in life is death.

Aliens might cure our diseases, too. ![]()
Besides, pharmaceuticals don't want to cure disease. Treat them, yes; cure them, no.

I'm doing folding@home myself, never understood the SETI mania.
Though now that I think about it, I think Archers are just trying to fill a gap deep inside themselves... they need a life.... hence searching for Alien LIFE =p
Allan-Volunteer on the (topic being discussed) mailn lists. You never get the people who matters attention on the forums.
jasonwryan-Installing Arch is a measure of your literacy. Maintaining Arch is a measure of your diligence. Contributing to Arch is a measure of your competence.

Archers are just aiming high, trying to reach the stars :-)

That's why you get a bank account in the Cayman Islands.
I don't do any of these at all (yet), but I sort of expected more Folding@Home participants than anything else because of the Arch F@H team, and the exposure with PS3 (unless you omitted F@H).
SETI@Home's higher participation confirms one fact, however: Most Archers want to know who their new alien overlords will be.

I love SETI. Sure, saving lives is great, but not everything you do has to save lives, unless you're superman. Then again, I might be delusional, because I've watched the entire X-files series... twice.

When I first started DC projects, I liked SETI because its work was completed much faster than folding. Now I do fold on my machines (not team Arch though, sorry).

It is inevitable that for Arch linux success to become one of a galactic scale, we must first search our long lost space brethren who can give us the capability to spread the word of Arch throughout the stars.

Nah, I think they'll enslave us.
We're so inferior and of multiple weird skin colors, we will be slaves.
And then they'll realize we are lazy and rebellious and THEN they'll eat us !

Umm, yeah...
I don't think so, Tim
Thank you very much. I was just wrestling with myself whether I should just ignore it or comment on that FUD (link and link).
On topic: I don't fold nor dock nor seti (yeah, it's a verb now) nor prime (that too)
but I think I should start folding or docking... hmmm, I'll have to read up on that.
Cheers

PS: I love the new forum look. takes some getting used to but looks veery pretty and slick
congrats on whoever designed it.

Anecdotally, I have met many people over the course of my life who make a living in the pharmaceutical field who echo similar sentiments. Cancer researchers also.
Come to think of it, anyone I've met who makes a living wants to keep their job!

Archers and intelligent Alien life ???
well the " intelligent Alien life " is and has watched our daytime and prime time TV and decided that they
want nothing at all to do with us and Archers do not watch daytime and prime time TV.
