Is that your pager in the bottom left of the screen? Which one is it?
That's one of fvwm's greatest features... when you iconify an app you can do that (it's actually a scaled down screenshot of the window taken when you iconfied it).
Does anyone know how to make a borderless transparent terminal (preferrably with aterm) show on a predefined position on the desktop tailing -f /var/log/messages?
you want to check out root-tail - it's a log tailing app which renders directly onto the root window (desktop)

Dreameen: What pager do you use? Looks really nice
Here's mine, nothing exciting, just flux, dark themes all over and I modified kreski Lines to work with ROX.

It's very simple but I like it
fluxbox-devel, just an aterm running irssi... The wallpaper really r0x.

It's not a pager really. What you can see in the bottom left corner of the screen are thumbnails of windows that are minimized. This feature is quite popular in fvm based desktops. When you click on the thumbnail, the application's window raises and focuses.

out of interest, it's not exactly standard AFAIK - Taviso, a well know fvwm user, "invented" it (AFAIK - i may be wrong)- that's the reason a lot of people get pissed when other people use their configs without recognition

Thanks Mr. Green. I hadn't been there in a while and didn't realized that there was new stuff posted.

yeah, I know it's not a standard feature, but the way fvwm handles rendering makes it *able* to do that... I don't think any other WM really can (though, maybe the skippy code can be modified to mimic it... it's really just some imlib2 hacking)

These are my archlinux screenshots:
Fluxbox with lots of translucency (for serious work) :

Fvwm also with lots transparency (for play ) :

Translucency in fluxbox is done trough xcompmgr (devel version). Fvwm is root transparent (menu is patched with pseudo translucency).
Configs can be found on my web page (see the sig).

Witness the wonders of xcompmgr and transset cvs versions (available from Dibble's repo):
Yes, this really, really slows things down when you have a crappy video card and no hardware acceleration!
I know it's sort of ugly, but I'll give what I use anyway... The wallpaper is WIngs of the Apocalypse again, the GTK theme is Rubbersoul, and the (non-stock) icon theme is GNANT.

Are the cvs versions actually using hardware accelaration nowadays? Awesome if they are. Otherwise that xcompmgr crap brings my powerhouse machine to a CRAWL

Wow... Beautiful shot. I've always liked the looks of FVWM-Crystal, even if I can't figure out how to get it to work.
Didn't know that xcompmgr-cvs doesn't use hardware accel... Bleh. Anyway, it's not the only (or the best) compositor out there, though it seems to beat XFCE's.
