[SOLVED] Sound problems...methinks its ALSA related

alright.  I installed arch core on my acer laptop, and then got xorg, alsa, gstreamer plugins, gnome, a bunch of gnome extras, chromium, etc...

By now after some initial internet troubles... I have everything working as far as I know except for the sound.  the volume control is working now but there is no output.  if I run a speaker test I get this output:

[tommy@legitilappy ~]$ speaker-test -c2 -D hw:0,0 -t wav -l1

speaker-test 1.0.23

Playback device is hw:0,0
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
WAV file(s)
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1401:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory

^C
[tommy@legitilappy ~]$

it just keeps going until I stop it with control x.
I don't know where to go from here.  so If someone could give me some stuff to try or knows the problem, please let me know.  I know I probably haven't provided enough info.  just ask questions and I can try to answer.

thanks

edit: IDK how but I fixed it myself.  nevermind.
