I recently tried aDesklets on my Gentoo box and I think this software is a must-have in Arch repositories.
It is a gDesklets replacement ( a Desklet is an eye-candy desktop enhancement like a docker, a launchbar, a nice-drawn weather information post-it, etc... )
with only two dependencies : imlib2 and, of course, X-server.
It is lightning fast(because of imlib2) and it looks awesome on my desktop.

For those who will install it from source, here is some advice on how to configure it :
The desklets *.py scripts must be run once. Then you right-click on the desklet and move it where you want it to be.
Then exit X, and have a look at ~/.adesklets and edit it to your likings.
To start the desklet :
nano -w ~/.xinitrc
#blablablah
adesklets &
exec mywm
and NOT
randomdesklet.py &
exec mywm
Think of the *.py scripts they are installation scripts and then sould not be run to actually launch the program.
