qca-tls was removed a while ago, probably because no packages in the main repos need it anymore. The kde3 repo has to include it, but it hasn't happended yet. But there's not so many packages that need it anyway...

Hi mates,
I'm trying to install KDE3 after some time suffering KDE4's horrible performance. I have done next, but I get an unresolved dependency:
[musikolo@Kalisto ~]$ sudo pacman -Syu

kde3 is up to date

[musikolo@Kalisto ~]$
What could I do to sort it out?
Best regards!

Hi ash,
thanks a lot for your links. I haven't tried them but I figure out they should sort out this issue. However, I wonder why aren't they available directly from the repos, if, as it seems to be, they are required for kde3-kdemultimedia.
Best regards!

Hi ash,
akode worked like a charm but qca-tls requires qca-qt3:

[musikolo@Kalisto ~]$
I still don't understand why all these packages are not included in the repos if it is proven to be needed.
Best regards!

Send tanis a mail and ask him to update. He doesn't seem to be around.

Hello Musikolo,
Both links are broken, can you please provide us with a new one? I am also facing the same problem...

Hi,
it seems to be unmaintained. I had some problems when I tried to installed KDE3. So, I think it's better to wait for the maintainer to fix the broken packages. I know this isn't good news, but it's what we have...
Sorry mate. :-)

Many kde3 applications don't work with libjpeg 7 (You get "error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".) Installing libjpeg6 from AUR helps. See http://chakra-project.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?id=1097

Is there any other way to get KDE 3.5 on my machine? I'd much rather use it than KDE 4. Thanks.

Hello fellow TWIL community member
You could try the Arch Rollback Machine. I don't know how far back it has records for, but you could take a look:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dow … ckages#ARM
EDIT: Never mind...KDE 3.5 is way older than how far back the ARM goes.
