Wicd won't connect to a WPA network that has a blank password

I need to connect to a WPA network which has no password. I am currently using wicd, but it gives me an error message if I try to leave the key field blank. Is there a way to get wicd to use an empty string for a key, or am I just out of luck and will have to use a different network manager?

Thanks in advance.

How exactly is your network WPA if it has no key at all?

Yeah, what about actually setting a password on your 'protected' wireless network ? This would solve your problem. And will make everybody on this forum happy.

Alternatively, you could manually compute the 256-bits PMK from your passphrase and your SSID and enter it in wicd in the form of 64 hexadecimal characters.

I'm afraid that it's not my network; I feel exactly the same way. I don't understand why they don't just set some kind of password, even a trivial one, but it's not for me to reason why, unfortunately.

They'll certainly never guess that lol

Really though, try using this:

http://wicd.sourceforge.net/templates.php

Your file should of course be simpler than theirs, which is a plus.

WPA network with a blank password? My god! I didn't even think it was possible...
