[Solved - HW Problem] Huawei E220 connect - disconnect cycling problem

I give up.

I just bought the modem this afternoon, I thought that it will work without problem (since I already have Huawei E180 that work flawlessly), but it is not. After plugging in the usb modem, kernel keep connect and disconnect the modem.

I had try everything, removing/blacklisting usb-storage module, removing/blacklisting option module, usb_modeswitch, adding hal preprobe policy; but nothing is work.

Unless someone can help me with this issue, or I will return the modem back tomorrow to the shop and replace it with E180 a new one.

My system,

rv77ax@bubu$ uname -a
Linux bubu 2.6.35-ARCH #2 SMP PREEMPT Sat Aug 14 21:58:00 CEST 2010 x86_64 AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

List of installed packages: http://pastebin.org/614298 .

Thanks,

ms

UPDATE:

So, I tried this modem with another laptop and OS (OpenSuSE 11.2) and it still have the same problem.

Then, I try to change the connection cord/cable using the cord from my external HD, and the problem still exist. Either this was a real hardware issue or I just don't know how to configuring it.

2nd UPDATE:

Bad news, there is a 51% chances that this is a hardware issues. Darn it!

I should have research before buying.

3rd UPDATE:

I just back from the shop and replace the modem with a new one, and now it works normal.
