which tiling window manager to start?

hi everybody big_smile
I wanted to ask you a question: I'd like to try a tiling window manager, but I don't know where to start.
What I want from it is stability, code cleanliness (arch-style, so quite simple to configure), and a little eye-candy (background under trasparency, tray, information bars...)
if possible, maybe mouse support, too, even through plugin. I need it to surf the net and to use some applications. I wanted to install it next to gnome, maybe for manteinance from shell, but if I wanted to use my web-browser I would like to do it comfortably with my mouse...

is there anything similar? what do you advice me to do?

Re: which tiling window manager to start?

Hi [L3Le], welcome to the boards.

There is a good comparison page on the Wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Com … w_Managers

The only advice that we can give you is to read the wiki and install and try some of the WM's - switching between them is a relatively trivial exercize.

Also, please search the forums and use google before posting - there are quite a few threads like this already.

Closing.
