Why not select wireless-tools by default?

Seriously, why is wpa-supplicant installed by default but wireless-tools isn't?
Imagine my pain when I rebooted from the installer and got 'iwconfig: command not found'.

I haven't installed in a while, but are you sure wpa-supplicant is even? My guess is because some of us don't use wireless internet. If you want, you can post a feature request on the bug tracker.

I remember when i follow the Beginner's Guide to install arch at the first time, one of the recommendations was install wireless-tools for those people who have laptops.

Re: Why not select wireless-tools by default?

Gah!  I just got burned by this, too.  I can confirm that wpa_supplicant is definitely installed by default whereas wireless_tools is not.

I've filed a feature request: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18966

Incidentally, the Official Arch Linux Install Guide does not mention that one should install wireless_tools and, I must admit, I didn't bother reading the Beginners' Guide (where the need to manually select wireless_tools is noted).

One more that thought that wireless_tools was included, and ended up on a no internet situation. this should be changed!
