Hi All.
I have just tried to do an upgrade (pacman -Syu) on my laptop after several months of not doing so.
The packages downloaded ok, but in the last checking phase I get these errors:

Is it safe to remove these conflicting files? I have ATI graphics on this machine ..
Thanks,
Bernie

Are they owned by another package? Did you install them without using pacman?

Hi thanks for the reply.
The first item is not owned by any package, the rest are owned by "radeon_ucode 2-2"
I don't think i installed them outside pacman, but I could be wrong ..
Edit: Actually I just checked with yaourt (aur) and found the 1st package was installed from AUR
aur/iwlwifi-5000-ucode 8.24.2.12-1
I need that firmware for my Wifi .... so why can't I upgrade if I have a package installed from AUR?
Cheers,
Bernie

linux-firmware conflicts with and replaces iwlwifi-5000-ucode. You should be ok to remove the aur package.

Thanks for that, shame there wasn't the usual message to that effect ...
Regarding the other package "radeon_ucode 2-2", I can't find that anywhere in pacman or AUR?
neither a search with pacman -Ss or yaourt -Ss shows up anything, searching on radeon_ucode, radeon, or ucode keywords ..
Any idea's

I really don't know the answer as I use nvidia. There is the following thread which suggests the package did exist quite recently and that removing it may be a solution.

Hey thanks ... my forum search for radeon_ucode missed that thread entirely ...
