Can't save KDE4 notification settings

I'm trying to disable the login/logout settings for KDE4, but everytime I uncheck them in the Notifications settings area and apply the changes, then restart systemsettings, the changes don't seem to stick. If I run systemsettings as root, then they do stick, but then those changes only apply to root. Anyone else encountered this problem? Wasn't a result of the 4.5 upgrade, been trying to fix this for a while now.

did you tried to remove the

.kde4/share/config/systemsettingsrc

and/or the

.kde4/share/config/kdeglobals
