Issue with mkinitcpio after a clean install

Hello.

I just re-installed Arch in my notebook (Dell Vostro V13, if that matters) and the very first boot was unable to succeed. I asked for advice in the IRC channel, and MrElendig pointed my to the mkinitcpio Arch wiki page. I tried the workaround showed there, but without success. It seems that I'm not the only one with this trouble (I found this bug report). How can I gather information about what's going on? I would like to contribute with information, if this is possible and helpful, to help get this bug fixed. Where should I look for logs? What steps should I be following?

Aside that, and despite the fact that I can boot with the fallback kernel image, I would rather use the 'regular' one. What should I do? Should I install an old kernel? Just keep booting with the fallback image?

Sorry for my English. Feel free to point out my errors.
