X-Fi Titanium and 5.1 Surround Sound

Hi all!

I have a Creative X-fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro and I am using the latest version of Alsa that came with the lastest stable kernel, 2.6.35.4-1.

For some reason, I can only get sound out of my front right and left speakers. No sound out of center, rear right, or rear left. I have nothing muted in Alsa mixer, and surround sound and front/center are turned up max. I tried searching google but I can't find anything talking about surround soun for X-fi on linux.

Philosophy is looking for a black cat in a dark room. Metaphysics is looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn't there. Religion is looking for a black cat in a dark room that isn't there and shouting "I found it!". Science is looking for a black cat in a dark room with a flashlight.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. If it doesn't work, I'll just drop down to 2.1.

That post is totally missing the point. It directs stereo to all 6 speakers, which works with any soundcard.

The point is, ALSA can't use the other 4 speakers, with this particular soundcard, because the configuration required is Creative's secret and hasn't been discovered yet.
