Can somebody help me with a user-specific (or so I assume) issue where I can't run KDE apps, but if I run them as root, I can. I'm running OpenBox. Can somebody help using the error below?
[jookia@jookia-ARCH ~]$ kaffeine
kaffeine(18501): Communication problem with "kaffeine" , it probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown" : " "The name org.kde.kaffeine was not provided by any .service files" "

i tried on my machine and on a fresh install and it worked in both tests...

They use to work but they do not now.

Shot in the dark but I'll try anyway. Is your username a member of all the pertinent groups (audio, video, etc.)? Or are you talking about absolutely ANY KDE app?

I think it is, how do I check?
Anyway, I can run Kaffeine as root.

Is dbus and hal listed in your rc.conf daemons list? If so then I'm at a loss.

I'm at a loss then. I was hoping it'd be something simple that was in my small realm of knowledge.
Maybe someone else has some ideas...

It's crazy, eh?

Could try removing dbus and all its config files then try installing it again.

Umm.. How do I do that?

Okay, I reinstalled D-Bus and HAL to no avail.

Hmm, reinstall glibc.... (?)

I deleted glibc, but I'm due for a reinstall anyway. I went from GNOME to Xfce to OpenBox and didn't learn of pacman's removing config option. So yeah, reinstall time!
