v4l-utils and LD_PRELOAD problem

Hello,
I'm one of those who has a up-side-down webcam image. I sent my webcam information to Hans de Goede <hdegoede -at- redhat.com> and he sent me a v4l-utils tar file which includes the solution for my hardware. The first time I tried sent v4l-utils, it did trick and my webcam worked OK.

Then I added required line to my ~/.profile file.

export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1-compat.so

After re-login, when I run skype (or chromium, I am using google's talkplugin as well) I get this error:

ERROR: ld.so: object '/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1-compat.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.

Then I thought may be .profile is not the file to add, then I tried ~/.xinitrc (I am using slim btw, so I'm sure my .xinitrc is processed, i am starting gnome session with it). It didn't work either.

I don't want to add LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1-compat.so to all my required launchers (skype, chromium and etc). What should -or can- I do?

BTW, I've been researching about this issue on forum and also other sources, so don't think that I'm asking for help without doing any research.

Edit: I'm using i686 Arch Linux, so it shouldn't be a x86_64 problem.
