I once ran across an install file, that was just a bash script, but the executable code was packed into the end of the script. Something like a 2MB shell script.
When you executed the script, it unpacked itself into memory, or something, and ran the packed code (likely precompiled or something).
I always thought this was a kinduv novel idea, and might be fun to play around with..
Does anyone know what utility does this? Is it shar? (ie gnu sharutils)

yeah it's shar... I think it's cool for "self extracting" installers.... I actually remember seeing the beginnings of a packager which user shar...
doesn't the nvidia installer use this?
