USB Modem quits unexpectedly

I use a USB 3G Modem (Teracm LW272) to connect to the internet. Whenever the ac supply gets cut off and the laptop switches to battery mode or vice versa, the modem quits unexpectedly.
The part of the dmesg output is attached, when this happens.

The same doen't happen if I use the modem on Windows XP or the power goes for a very short time, like less than 1.5  secs.
