Proxy software on standalone machines for web caching?

Hi, all. AFAIK, there are a lot of browsers that don't have built-in caching facilites: uzbl, surf and the latest xxx-term. I believe that the recommended workaround here is to use a proxy, like squid. However, I believe there should be more lightweight alternatives - I want to run this proxy on my laptop for my daily browsing. What would you recommend? Polipo? Or is there anything else to consider?

From the polipo manual: Other HTTP proxies

Thanks for letting me know, I was about to install squid but I think I'm gonna switch to polipo now. smile

Re: Proxy software on standalone machines for web caching?

Polipo is simple and nice. I use it in combination with Privoxy (on my gateway).
I tried Squid, but it's too heavy to configure, and slow to start. I may be useful for big networks, but for home comuting I'd do with polipo.
