Re: Arch Linux Donations and 501(c) Status?

It may be advantageous "flying beneath the radar" however,  the lack of both tax advantages and general murkiness of what happens to donated money is a barrier to more substantial donations.

Re: Arch Linux Donations and 501(c) Status?

I'm all for donations (and admitted Arch's devs could be a bit more transparent about them), but Arch is doing fairly well so far without any legal status I would know of.
It's the community that keeps it together and instead of getting involved into politics I still prefer to see commitment from the users, keeping Arch what made it great to begin with and improve on what made it not so great.
Distros have been killed by politics, distros have been killed by the lack of politics. It's a difficult path but that goes deeper than getting a 501(c)whatever for a few donations.

edit: 501. not 503
