Problems runnig Uplink on Arch64

I currenyly having some problems running one of my favorite games, Uplink, on Arch64.

I've tried both installing Uplink via the AUR package and unpacking the uplink.zip manually from the CD and applying the patch from the AUR package, bot resulting in the same error.

Version 1.55 (RELEASE)
Compiled on Mar 19 2007 at 13:34:53
(code-C)(code-M)(code-T)
An Uplink Internal Error has occured: segmentation violation (SIGSEGV)

An Uplink Internal Error has occured during graphics initialization

An (unrecognised) Uplink Internal Error has occured
===================================================
See the /home/acid/.uplink/debug.log file for more informations on the error
./uplink: line 44: 11634 Segmentation fault $here/lib/uplink.bin.x86 "$@"

Also when i try to the official 1.54 patch, i get an error saying that the shared library libgtk-1.2.so.0 is missing. I figure it's because it needs a 32bit version of the library, I i can find no package, either in pacman or AUR containing gtk1 libraries.

I've tried just linking from /usr/lib32 to the 64bit library, but then I get an error saying:

error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-1.2.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

Anyone on Arch64 who has succesfully installed and runned Uplink? Or is this a general problem?

You should try adding [multilib] and installing at least lib32-gtk2, or whatever else seems needed. Surprised that thise wouldn't b e mentioned in the PKGBUILD if its necessary though... its not an outdated package.

I have lib32-gtk installed, but it being quite an old game; I Think it needs the gtk1 libraries. I have gtk1 64-bit libraries, but the 32 bit libraries is nowhere to be found i multilib.

Maybe this will work: forums.introversion.co.uk/uplink/viewtopic.php?t=38670&highlight=withour+gtk

Thanks, this at least solved the problem with running the updater smile

But I still get a segmentation fault whenever i try running the game. I might just end up trying to install the Windows version through WINE.

Has anyone actually got the native linux client running on arch64?

I did, but I downloaded 1.54 directly from Introversion's store. Installing flash brought in a lot of lib32 packages as dependencies which, I think, saved me a lot of trouble. But I haven't seen a problem like this
