Could someone explain why OpenShot on Arch needs QT ?
i have been playing with various video editors.
Openshot comes close to my needs and accoring to the website is based on gtk2
BUT when i try to Pacman -S openshot it want to install 171 Mbyte !
( i'm using xfce4 and do not have kde or qt on my system )
so i did some more research:
Openshot depends on mlt-python-byndings, on mlt, on QT ! Explains the big install.
Read MLT website and i do not understand if or why QT is required.
So i go try: ABS, remove QT dependency from MLT, makepkg, No compile errors !
install with pacman my new mlt (45Mb) and than openshot (29Mb) = 74 Mbyte together.
and all works smooth, no error messages. Already tried a small few video projects.
So when openshot is intended for gtk2 (gnome) environment it should not depend on QT right ?

Kdenlive has the same "problem". Mlt depens on gtk2 but is not necessary really. I uploaded mlt-git to aur without gtk2 dependancy and works fine.
Excuse my poor English.

Thanks for the package!
I'd say MLT depending on gtk is a much bigger problem than MLT depending on QT

Not quite shure i fully understand your response to remove gtk2.
i'm mostly running xfce4 hence gtk2 is always installed.
while gtk2 is "only" 36 Mbytes, QT means yet another unnecessary 98 Mbytes.
