Question about yaourt...
In /etc/yaourtrc, there is an option TMPDIR and also an option DEVELBUILDDIR.
Does this mean that when I build a package from the AUR that is not a git/bzr/cvs/svn package that it will be built in TMPDIR and not in DEVELBUILDDIR?

Yes, DEVELBUILDDIR is for git/bzr/cvs/svn/hg and similar packages, TMPDIR is for all others.
Both DEVELBUILDDIR and TMPDIR are set to /tmp by default, but would be a good idea to set the first one to some folder that doesn't get deleted after reboot (so not /tmp).
