It is normal in normal mode but when I go fullscreen, the scrollbar and all around it becomes black (except buttons like "play"). How do I fix it?

Hi,
I think I have the same problem and that it comes from xorg-server 1.9 but I'm not sure.
same problem with psi notifications and becomes transparent if you have compositing enabled. (So I guess you don't)

Today was another VLC update. But that bar is still black.

Same here. VLC fullscreen controls bar is transparent with compositing enabled and black when it is disabled. I have also updated to xorg-server 1.9.

Created a new user which was only in "users" group. And VLC didn't have this issue. My current user is in:
$ groups
disk wheel log network audio optical storage users
Maybe this is the reason?
Tried to delete VLC's config files. That didn't help.

Just noticed that showfoto has the same problem with tooltips of pics' metadata. Tooltips are also black and you can't read anything on 'em. Just to let you guys know.

Besides VLC, Psi+ (Qt Jabber client) is affected too on one of my systems with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 . It occures only with Qt applications on xorg-server 1.8 and 1.9, drivers xf86-video-ati and catalyst, Qt 4.6.3 and 4.7.0, Linux kernel 2.6.35.* and 2.6.36 RCs. With compositing disabled in Xorg config it's not black but with graphical artifacts.

Maybe it's time to send a bugreport? But where?...

Try downgrading to QT4.6 if you have the QT4.7 version. That fixed some problems into my system.

It affects another Arch installation (with testing repos enabled), now on Asus EEE 1005HA with Intel 945GME.

Maybe the bug is in 2010.05 installation ISO? So everyone who installed Arch from earlier ISO doesn't have this bug?

When did you first notice this bug?

Seems to work fine here. I'm using XFCE with no compositing, fully up-to-date system (no testing). The graphics card is an ATI RV610 and I'm using xf86-video-ati.
My user is in the groups: users wheel uucp video audio optical vboxusers

same problem here (laptop with nvidia and pc with ati, both kde)... is there any bug fix except creating new user?

For me even creating a new user didn't help me.

Some time ago I posted a bugreport but they closed it. Reason - it works OK on their machines...
