Hello,
when I use GNOME as my DE, I start to get 'ata3: EH complete' errors on dmesg. ata3 is where my hard drive is connected to. Usually one would get those messages if the hard drive was going to failure, but the hard drive seems to be OK (smartctl and programs like Palimpsest gives no error).
It seems something related to power management.
Any ideas? This is a WDC WD2500BEVS-22UST0 hard-drive (250GB 2,5") on an Acer 7720 laptop. The disk controller is
00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA AHCI Controller (rev 03)
I am using the LTS kernel if that changes anything.
Thanks!

This is parameter -W 1 passed to hdparm via pm-tools. (/usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/harddrive)
Nothng bad with it. Anyway revise if some parameters are too agressive for your disk, edit values in /etc/pm/power.d/harddrive (new file) based on /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/harddrive.
